Alipay to process fund payments in China

Chinese regulators have granted Alipay, the online payment unit of Alibaba Group, approval to process payments by individuals and corporates buying and selling investment funds online, according to two sources familiar with the matter, cited by Reuters.

Alipay joins other e-payment platforms including UnionPay and ChinaPnR in processing such trades, the same source indicates. Alipay has over 650 million registered users, including individuals and corporates. In recent news, Alibaba’s unit has rolled out a payment service to enable people in Hong Kong and Macau to make purchases.

ESI, InstaMed to roll out electronic healthcare payment solutions for hospitals

ESI Healthcare Business Solutions (ESI), a safety-net hospital partner, has partnered InstaMed, a Healthcare Payments Network, to offer electronic healthcare payment solutions.

The Electronic Healthcare Payment Solutions allow hospitals to accelerate cash flow via patient estimation, credit/debit card and check processing, electronic patient statement delivery and online bill pay.

AmEx, Isis partner for mobile NFC payments

American Express has entered an agreement with Isis, a US mobile commerce joint venture created by AT&T, T-Mobile USA and Verizon Wireless, to make the US Consumer, OPEN Small Business and Serve cards available in the latter’s mobile wallet.

Under the agreement, American Express’ digital payments and commerce platform is set to be added into the Isis Mobile Wallet, allowing card members to shop, tap and pay with their mobile devices equipped with Near Field Communications (NFC) technology.
